I've owned the Beast since February of 1978 so that's 37 years, the gentlemen who bought it originally from surplus owned it for 32 years.

Cheers Phil

Congrats, Phil!

Three owners only, that's really amazing.

PS: I would post in the Softskin forum.

Default Happy birthday to the Beast!

My father's twins were made on 25th July 1945, will try to send here few pics, too...

He bought both of them back in 1979, too!!!!! From firefighters, who were given them from UNRRA in 1945/1946, one of them still has the "UNRRA" stencil on.

Phil, do you have the copper "vehicle model" plate ?

Frankie

Default Yes have all the plates

Hi Frankie

Yes, I'm very lucky all of the data plates and instruction decals were still on HUP when I got it and I have preserved them I have not tried to clean them just left they the way they were. Also all the little metal warning tags on the engine and drive train have survived. Though some of these I have removed and saved over the years as they were going to fall off.

Default Data plates

Thank you for your reply. Great you lef tthem in original condition.
It's funny that a July 1945 made PERS 3 has a copper (brass?) plate, normally I would tell a brass one is earlier style.

Lovely to see. I've followed the story of this machine from afar, and appreciate the time you've taken to share.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Robert

The 28th Weare Rally is Thursday 23 through Saturday 25th of July 2015. Here is the link to the MVMVC web site mvmvc.org with the Rally Tab being http://mvmvc.org/weare-rally/ the best GPS or Google address is 14 Center Rd, Weare, NH.

Based on Camper and Vendor registration it is shaping up to be another big show. For the first time we had online registration and we are booking up very fast. In fact we are trying to find additional space off field for RV and Trailer camping we do still have tent camping space in the woods around the field.

There will be at least three CMPs present at the Rally, mine the HUP has made it to every show except one during its restoration. Ask for me at the registration tent, I'm heading up registration so they generally can find me.

Having a birthday cake for all of the MVs built during the last year of the war might be a neat idea.

Cheers Phil
