Default Cab 11/12 Vent Control Bracket

Looking for one of these, if anyone has a spare they would be keen to part with. It's the bracket under the dash on the Cab 11 & 12, that holds the control cable for operating the front vent panels.

Thanks,
Owen.

Default Rare item....

Usually broken at the small end just above the hole for the cable . Found one set of 2 from the remains of 4 cab11/12. Made of white metal they could be reproduced/cast quite easily.. Although needed for appearance once installed and connected you realize that the negligable amount of air that flows through the small vent hole is not worth the effort.......leave the holes open and do not put any stress on the bracket trying to close/open the vent.

Cheers

Default Part Number?

Update: the bracket has 3654573 cast into the rear. According to the parts list, it isn't peculiar to DND vehicles.

Has anyone found out what other vehicles it may have been fitted to?

Owen.

Based on the 1929-1948 Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog, part number 3654573 is a "Bracket, tube". At that time it cost $0.12 and one was used on all passenger (no mention of commercial, utility or COE using them) from 1940-1948. 3654573 is listed in parts group 8.077 Bracket-Grommet-Guide--Clip, Hood Catch Control Rod Tube.
They might also have been used later as 1948 is the last year covered in the particular catalog. As speculation, later uses might have been for other applications than the hood catch (civilian vehicles) or cowl ventilators (CMP).

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. Wonder if they could be cast from a stronger material though?

As an aside, the choke cable bracket on my Opel Olympia (which by 1936, was also a General Motors product) was formed from steel flat bar, bent at 90 degrees. Not as pretty as the cast bracket, but still doing it's job 82 years later! Function over form.

Here's a photo of the bracket and the control knob from my old C15A 12 cab your right in your speculation Grant you can clearly see the word 'Hood' on the control knob. Unfortunately I've just sold my last bracket to Holland only last month if I turn up any more in the back of the barn I'll let you know Owen

Thanks Pete. And thanks for the photo of the control knob too.

The import duties will make it too expensive for me, but if any US-based members need one:

Hi Owen
If you send me a PM with your address I will slip one in the mail for you.
You will have to be a bit patient as it is still on the truck and we are snowed
under so to speak, with changing snow tires.
Cheers,
Barry
