Kevin,
I think the axle is the same basic part but the UC has a special adaptor which houses the speedo drive and coupling gear for attachment to the Gearbox output shaft where as the Loyd uses the 'normal' torque tube arrangement. Brakes, hubs, sprockets (not sure on back plates) are all the same as UC with the exception of the drum, which is specially designed by Loyd.

Slowly slowly... family and work come first... I will get there in the end.
Taking the axle appart at the moment to rebuild it, will need the casing welding as it has two impacts from the range. Chassis on the way, need to get a rear bracket gusset from my other wreck to complete the back end of the chassis.

I haven't updated for a while, the project has been parked while parts have been sourced and normal day to day things took place.
Working on the rear axle at the moment, rear of the chassis will start going back together next week if I can borrow a large enough trailer to bring it home from the farm. ![]() ![]() ![]() This photo clearly shows the weaker early design of rear axle used up to 1943.

Finally its going back together.
I've got to remake the engine floor and hopefully repair the gearbox floor, both 1.5mm steel. I imagine originally 1/16th. ![]() ![]() Gearbox floor Right side is from the 44 Ford range target, left is from an 42 MB Wild. ![]() Engine floor Left is 44 Ford, right is 42 MB Wild...there is nothing in the middle, I presume to let the oil leaks drain out ![]()

It sure is Ben, to have it just a few metres from the house makes such a difference, I've got more done in the past couple of weeks than in the last 18 months. It also means that the farm rent can now go into the carrier fund! The price of imperial fasteners always shocks me.

Is the TS&C Loyd in the pictures under restoration now or it it still with a farmer? It would be a great restoration project as it still has bunch of the starter charger special bits and pieces. Hopefully someone is restoring it now.

I'm having a full set of Loyd gearbox and engine under trays made at the moment, if anyone needs a set I can double up the order.
Update: I made them myself with a friend kindly folding them on his 100 year old machine! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I forgot to post an update on the engine and gearbox floors, that's all complete and the reason that the chassis is now the right way up!

A little more progress with the scant few weeks I get to work on it each year.
I have been reviewing some Tank Museum Contract cards recently and it is apparent that the 26,000+ Loyd production numbers are erroneous. At some point I'll go through all the cards and asses the true production figures, just to clear up the previously published errors. As an example the reported Ford UK production figures of over 7500 machines was actually cancelled in November 1944 at a figure of just over 4200 units delivered. ![]() ![]()

Probably supports the track better than the stock F type sprockets did. Later UC carriers had shouldered sprockets not quite as extreme as these though
