Armored Cars (and one CMP) from South Africa

I just returned from a work trip that took me amongst other places to Johannesburg, South Africa. There the South African National Museum of Military History has a fine collection of South African used equipment. As South Africa did not have it's own armaments manufacturing base until WW2 many of the vehicles came from other Commonwealth nations. During WW2 a great deal of equipment apparently came from Canada. First up is a 1930's Crossley armored car that in 1940 was refitted to a Ford of Canada chassis. Next is a domestically produced wartime armored car, but again is on a Canadian imported chassis. Finally a Lynx II and last a CMP. I decided against making another seperate soft skin forum thread just on the one vehicle. Enjoy.

That was the Crossley, now the first domestic armored car on the Ford of Canada chassis.

Here is the Lynx II. Check out the welds done on this thing! I'm guessing while in service they found hardware loosening up and the solution was to weld everything in place? I thought the Allied star was interesting as well.

Finally the C15A, not to be left out. I didn't think this required a separate thread as I felt this thread would serve as a discussion of the museum as much as the vehicles herein.

The Crossley/ Ford and South African armoured cars are very rare, the Lynx "Verkenningskar" and C15A truck are less so but are certainly nice to see.

TIL that in Afrikaans, kar is synonymous with motorvoertuig. Not something you expect as a Dutch-speaker, where kar translates to English as “cart” rather than “car”. Not hard to see why it means the latter in Afrikaans, though.
