I have one downstairs as well. I always pictured it in use in an officer's bell-tent on his table as part of a makeshift office. I would love to know more about this item as well. I have had it in my collection for about 30 years now. I believe ti to be wartime.
It appears to take the same batteries as some of the field phones. |

there is a well known picture where there is a Sherman with a canvas tarp on the side and 2 or 3 guys standing next to a tripod with map board , and one of these lamps clipped on it . I have to browse internet to find it again .

Thanks for your informations. So it's a good WW2 item for you, because i find no date on this one. If you find photos in action i will happy to see them? Thanks for your help

As it says in the instructions on the box lid, it fits an Artillery Board and runs off two sets of batteries (I assume 'X' cells) in that compartment in the box.
