Default Lamp electric adjustable MK1

Hello
Can someone help me for tel me for what is this lamp and if it's WW2.
I find the MK3 version on the net, but no informations about this one.
Is it for the wireless truck or other used ?

I have one downstairs as well. I always pictured it in use in an officer's bell-tent on his table as part of a makeshift office. I would love to know more about this item as well. I have had it in my collection for about 30 years now. I believe ti to be wartime.



It appears to take the same batteries as some of the field phones.

there is a well known picture where there is a Sherman with a canvas tarp on the side and 2 or 3 guys standing next to a tripod with map board , and one of these lamps clipped on it . I have to browse internet to find it again .

As it says in the instructions on the box lid, it fits an Artillery Board and runs off two sets of batteries (I assume 'X' cells) in that compartment in the box.
