Just going back over this thread. I may be able to shed some light on the "V" that is a marking on the Umbau Wagen in the fantastic picture supplied by Owen Evans.

I was looking at a documentary recently on the subject of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. That V was used in that particular font (On the back of the Umbau Wagen) when he was in charge of Bohemia and Moravia.
I believe the V was to signify Nazi victory in these regions.
I wonder if the German Vehicles assigned to that area perhaps all had that V?

Happy to be corrected or hopefully... qualified.

Default Strange coincidence......

In the ongoing TV photos of the War in Ukraine.....vehicles are often seenwith a large Z or V painted in WHITE.......... any significance or just common sense not to shot friendlies when both side are using the same equipment....?
