Default Cdn Army M152 Radio Van

'Afternoon All,

My brother-in-law (who's waiting patiently for his registration to this forum to be processed) is progressing on the refurbishing of our museum's (Ashton Armoury Museum) 1955 M152 (Cdn) Radio Van. Before going much further he's considering replacing the linoleum floor covering as what's there now is in need of replacement.

Does anyone know what's the best material to use and a source for same?

Cheers,

Chris Preston,

Default What does it look like?

Hi Chris

Can you get a picture of what it looks like? Think I've seen two different types in the past, memory is telling green and/or brown. Will also look to see if have any photos, we're a number of the van body A 152 series at a meet I went in Hamilton back early 80s.

Cheers Phil

Send Derk Derin a PM. He recently restored one for the police museum, and brought a sample of the original in to a local flooring shop. They matched it up to an industrial linoleum.

I've been trying to match plain brown linoleum to re-surface my HUW wireless table. There isn't flooring shop I've been in yet that will hear me out. Now, if I wanted simulated marble or wood grain patterns...

If you can point me in the right direction I'd be most appreciative. Bergeron will need flooring for his Chev 2K1 wireless restoration as well.

I asked the very same question a few years back when I had mine.
http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...hlight=m152cdn

Also talking to some people that used them they all were different colour/material. I ended up putting in black linoleum.

Default Photos of Floor of M152

Hi All

Chris Preston sent me the following (I've resized the photos so they will load to MLU)

Very Many Thanks for the offer to help. I've attached three photos of the interior of the vehicle (radio compartment) which is almost ready for final fitting-out. My brother-in-law is thinking of replacing the flooring before going any further, but isn't sure on what to replace it with or where to purchase it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

This looks to be the same Brown Battleship Linoleum used on US S56 radio shelters. It is still available but the question is finding somebody who will order the relatively small 8x12 feet chunk. Smaller chunks like 3x3 and smaller seem to come up through the craft suppliers. Searching the web it comes up in the craft area for making block prints. Take a look at https://letterpresscommons.com/linoleum/ for example. Most common color is Gray but did find several listing for brown.

Hope this helps Chris

Cheers Phil

Default Flooring

Bruce read my mind. What kind of flooring should i put in my 2K1 Chevy Wireless 5 Box ? It is the direct predecessor of the Dodge M152. Thanks. Bob

Default Flooring for the M152

Hi All,
We just finished the frame up restoration of the Winnipeg Police Museum's
M152 that was originally the Winnipeg Police Departments first Bomb truck unit back when the Canadian forces disposed of their fleet of Dodges back in @1976. The Winnipeg Police started up a bomb unit back in 1975 and they were training with the Canadian military bomb unit in Winnipeg when they offered their old truck to the police for $1.00,they took it! They also offered the police their old bomb robot for $1.00 and they bought it as well. I have been meaning to do an article on the history & restoration of this truck but for now,the flooring. My restoration partner Rick bought flooring from Regency floor store in Winnipeg,1500 Regent ave W and their phone number is (204)-661-1299.
The flooring Rick got was exactly the same construction and color as the original stuff.Thick with burlap backing and a hard surface and the same green color but I know it wasn't cheap. Not sure what the total cost was as I wasn't the one who ordered it but if you phone the store, you can find that out, just make sure you are sitting down first! Hope this helps.
Regards,Derk.
