In Memorium - My Father
Hi
Sadly, my Dad passed away on 2 January 2024 in his 89th year after a long period of ailing health. Sad but also thankful. Dad joined the RCAF in 1952 as a Microwave Communications Tech and retired from the CAF in 1991 as a CWO in the Communications Branch. He was admitted as a Member to the Order of Military Merit, earned the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal, the Special Service Medal w/ bars Alert & NATO, and a Canadian Forces Decoration with 2 clasps. He was immensely proud of his service and after growing up in a military family following him around to a new posting every 3-4 years, then joining up myself and doing the same thing to my own family, I am too. kind regards Darrell

My brother and I buried our father's ashes in a .303BR ammunition box, along with a few of his usual pocket items. He was 89 too.
Be good to everyone around you, and may a smile come to your face when you remember him. Terry

Hi
Thank you for your kind thoughts, Merci beaucoup pour vos aimables pensées. Personally I was prepared for this eventuality and am very much trying to be positive for my siblings. We are gathering from across Canada in the Spring to lay his ashes with Mom. I have many happy memories of my Dad and am enjoying a stroll through them via old photos! I see now how those remote Pinetree Line postings were a bit more bearable! regards Darrell
