Default Tracing my wife's uncle

We were in Normandy this year and looked into my wife's uncle as he was killed on the 28th June 1944 as part of Operation Epsom. He is remembered on the Bayeux Panels but hasn't a gravestone. The story from the family is he was shot by a sniper in Mondrainville. He was a Lieutenant with the 2nd Glasgow Highlanders who helped defend what is known as the Scottish Corridor which led to Hill 112. What was scary is we found out he was a carrier officer of "S" Company.
He was leading his carrier team in dismounted action when he was shot. His team, one wounded, had to withdraw under heavy fire as the Germans overan the area. They returned the next day when the Germans had been pushed back, to recover the bodies with a padre who buried him where he fell in a ditch on the edge of an orchard. He was identified by his friends as the Germans had taken his id discs, watch and compass.
Now the interesting part. The padre was killed the next day. Because Lt. Loudon is remembered on the panels you can presume the padre reported his death to his c/o, but did the padre report the position of his body to the graves detachment for collection? If so why couldn't he be identified by his rank or div markings? There wasn't much fighting in that area after that date. We are working through both theories, one he is still in a grave in the edge of an orchard or he is one of the unknown soldiers buried in St.Manvieu Cemetary, Cheux.
Would like to find 2nd Battalion Glasgow Highlanders war diary or full history. Have their concise history in which he is mentioned. Also it would be amazing to find his id discs.
Any thoughts or help very much appreciated. My new Ford will be badged to 15th Scottish Division in his memory.
Nigel
