M5A1 Stuart Tank, s/n 5102, USA 3048214, ex-Canadian Army
Not mine, but I'd love to see who buys the Stuart M5 and a few of the other items. You can never have too many tanks...

It says estate. Is that term for an auction relative to the living? Mind you, divorce is it's own kind of death (and rebirth ).

Looking at the pictures on the Auction web site, it looks like a lifetime of collecting. The Stuart makes me wonder how many more relatively complete, yet untouched military vehicles are sitting in garages and barns across the country. I'll be the neighbours didn't even know that there was a tank next door. Would have been fun to attend if it wasn't already on today.

Looks like Paul Allen was the early bird that got the Stuart as it were...going to be part of the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field..

Vehicles all sold immediately this morning. All but the command car are apparently going to Paul Allen's collection.
Tomorrow, it's 25% off sticker price on everything, 50% off on Sunday. If anyone's looking for 19 sets, there were a few down there. Looked like MK.2 sets. I didn't see a single person so much as look at them while I was there.

Selling Price
Posted on another site, the Stuart was apparently sold for $55k (US) and the command car went for $17k. No selling price on the half track or other vehicle. Will be interesting to see where the Stuart ends up and if more information on it will be available. You never know what is in your neighbours garage...

Stuart, halftrack and command car are all going to the Flying Heritage Collection, so really it is kind of nice that they will be available for the public to see and even watch run at their Northwest Tankfest...And really if your gonna get beat out by someone...being beat by a billionaire is a nice way to go...the real crime is the GAA and GAF going to some hotrod guy...oh the horror! Sorry Rob I thought the original message went with the response, so now I find out it doesn't.
The quote below reflects wisdom and is often not known by participants until later, if at all, Regards Ed |

Thanks John!
From this list we learn that the subject M5A1 Stuart Tank with Serial Number 5102 is an ex-Canadian one, and it originally carried census number USA 3048214

I spoke to the auctioneer and he said the halftrack sold for $38,000. I considered purchasing the Stuart but I have too many projects at the moment and will probably just wait to purchase one in better condition that is a runner. V/R Ron
