Hmmm...sounds like it may be a PE-95 powered by the Go-Devil Jeep engine...yes/no?

Is it on a trailer, or otherwise transportable?

Jon - This unit sits on trailer type wheels and I think it could simply be towed away -I am not too familiar with it and I have PMed you so you can talk with the owner - Greg

I spoke with the gentleman who has this unit for sale.
I did have my hopes up that it was the 9kva unit as shown in Greggs book, the one powered by the jeep engine and tailer mounted, but no...
It is a 5000kw 120/208v stationary model powered by a Continental 4cyl engine.
It is trailer mounted albeit on a home built civvy trailer.
The fellow didn't have the specifics on hand as to what model this is. Any ideas out there???

Don't know off-hand, but it sounds like a commercial build. Useful, yes, and a good price, but not a collectable. Keep us posted.

What I got from him was:
- ex Canadian Miitary believed 50s or 60s manufacture
- skid mouint generator on home made trailer (hasn't moved much in 20 years)
- Output - he said 5KW once then later 10KW single/3 phase
- 4 cylinder Continental governed at 3600 RPM, when last run it would start, then shut down once warm. This was the pattern a year or two ago, he is now using a diesel generator for powering whatever this used to be used for.
- weight guessed at 700 lb.
- he says that the data plates are present to clarify build date, model, output.
Present owner seems to have had the generator for about 20 years.

hi guy's

i wouldn't write this off as non military just yet. there was a guy down here who had a trailer mounted gen set which was continental powered. unfortunately, all data plates were missing from the unit. it was mounted on a single axel trailer probably rated for 2 tons at least. it had a full sheet metal enclosure with flip up inspection doors on each side. the engine reminded me of a continental n62 same as could be found in a mid 50's massey harris pony tractor. mike

Just looking by the stock number and the contract number, it is of american design and build.

I have several dozen(s) of generator manuals from the 60s and 70s....I was not able to find this particular generator. That is not to say it wasn't used by Canada mind you.

By the way, if anyone needs specific manuals for generators like the 4.2K, the 5K , the .5K, the 1.5K, etc, drop me a line.
