I think it's the initials of the inspector.

Default Ordnance inspectors

These initials are from Col. D.N. Hauseman, Ordnance chief from Philadelphia Ordnance district from August 1942 to December 1943.

So who were the counterparts of Col. D.N. Hauseman? I guess it is a study on its own....

Thanks,
Hanno

Hello Hanno,

RZC is Col. R.Z. Crane, Ordnance chief of the Detroit district from June 1938 to June 1942.
He was succeded by "ABQ" Brig. Gen. A.B. Quinton Jr. who fulfilled the job from June 1942 throughout the rest of the war.
For that reason ABQ is quite common found on armored vehicle dataplates.

I have a note somewhere on "BOH" which i can't find now.
It is on Grizzly dataplates also.

Marco

Thank you very much Marco!

Indeed “BOH” is stamped on Grizzly data plates, too.

Smile M3 Plate

Had a great find the other day, this original Drive / Neutral and High (DNH) plate turned up the other day from a random auction, after at least 40 years missing from the Tank that just happens to be sitting in my wkshop! Exact same serial number, cheers Andrew.
