AVGP (Grizzly or Cougar) headlight assy's
I am looking for a couple of the armour type headlight assemblies as used, I believe on the AVGP. These are a small 4", heavy duty light in an armoured type casing, 24volt. PM please.

I may have erred in my wanted post unless someone can set me straight.
The item that I am looking for is listed as a M113 headlight assy. FSN 6220-00-984-5181 or part # 11589477-1. I would be interested in several mil-surp units at the right price.

Yes, I would say you erred. The M113 headlamps are a sealed beam par36 bulb in an armoured housing mounted on a single rubber mount. They come with either clear glass or with a very dark glass for IR use. The wires connect from the back using the SMP rubber type shell wiring.
The AVGP headlamps are a European design which have a large nut on the back to mount, and the electrical contacts are in that base. They use halogen bulbs. They also feature the blackout marker lamp as part of the assembly. I believe Hella is the original manufacturer. Just going by memory mind you. |

Yes Rob, the ones as you describe are what I am looking for (M113)
They make dandy auxilliary lighting, kinda like heavy duty off road foglamps! I had a couple a few years ago and used them on various projects, the one coming to mind was as a backup light under the rear bumper of my M37. Handy when hooking up a trailer in the dark or backing into a position in the night. I thought that these would make great headlights to use om my mule project if I can find some reasonably priced. Any leads?

Yep, on ebay.com . You will of course run into the problem of no shipping to Canada, but I did see some very reasonably priced ones on there.
I was installing these onto the Clark mules in Moose Jaw back in the 90s. The original headlamps were no longer available, and the little perkins engine shook so bad it would quickly destroy most other headlamp assys. The M113 lamps held up a little better, but even they were not enough. |
