Default ANZAC Day.

Well today was a very different ANZAC day. The first time in 104 years that crowds haven't gathered in dawn parades.
My wife(Christine) and I had breakfast on the lawn with the dog and two cats, looking out toward the sea and quietly remembering, just the two of us. We have been very fortunate.

On You Tube is a song by a guy called Eric Bogle, called "The band Played Waltz'n Matilda" ( I think I might have mentioned it before)
Anyhow, worth a listen. It gets me.

Vicki, Sam and I stood at the end of the drive for a lonely vigil just before first light. Lest We Forget.

Default Anzac Day 2020.

Anzac Day at Newlands Arm. It was the first time in 34 years that I did not have an ex-military vehicle at the Paynesville and Bairnsdale Anzac Day services. Jill and I parked General Saviges staff car out at the front gate with the parker lights on and the radio playing the service. The neighbours where also out at their gate and listened to the Last Post on our radio. The fog rolled in as the dawn approached. It was an erie sound to listen to the Last post in the fog.

My Grandfathers, Fathers and my medals saw the light of day together once again.

It was a different day and I hope the circumstances requiring the change are never repeated.

Keep well out there.

Lest We Forget.

Rick.

Default Anzac Day

I've never heard The Band Played Waltzing Matilda before.

Absolutely stunning.

Default We did our little bit

Dusted her off and the truck as well.

Parked at the front gate with some candles. Then one of the neighbours played the last post which echoed down the street.
