Default 15 Field Regiment RCA Milicon 1981 Footage

Came across this on an FB group so thought I would post it here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=AohOggTYSQQ

Some great shots of people behaving badly, one guy nearly gets run over and the classic of riding on the running board holding onto the wing mirror was great to see.

The white Dodge ambulance, does anyone care to comment on it at all?

What the heck is the first truck dragging at around the 2 minute mark? Something is following on the road quite a ways back from the truck and gun.

Re the Dodge, at that point in time there was a mixed fleet of trucks in the militia. For Cargo and ambulance, the militia generally had the commercial Dodge trucks slightly militarized. For Command posts or line trucks, they would get the GM 5/4 ton, which had the 24volt system. The militia did get the odd 5/4 ton cargo, but generally they got a commercial off the shelf truck as opposed to the more expensive regular force truck.

The Dodges were replaced that year (1981) by chev 3/4 tons, although the Dodge ambs stuck around for another 6 years. At that time the Chev 3/4 ton fleet was replaced by the CUCV fleet, which had ambulance, CP, and line and cargo variants.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the Dodge ambs, which were a year or so later than the rest of the Dodge militia fleet, came in white. It was the units who eventually took the brush to them.

A friend of mine bought one from the CF in the late 80s, still in the white colour. It was a beats of a truck, with Dana 60 front and Dana 70 back axles.

Default 15th field

The Regiment has a nice little museum in the Armory and Three 25 pounders. They operate the cab 12 Fat, limber and 25 pounder along with the Vancouver artillery Association.
