Default Still looking for transport, UK / Canada

Despite much looking, I still cant find a way to get my four flat-pack M19 ski/wheel trailers from here in central Scotland to Sean in Canada's NWT without spending more money than we would care to contemplate.

Anybody moving a vehicle or a container from the UK to Canada sometime soon and want to split costs? Ideally from the north of the UK to the west of Canada but anything considered if it's cheap enough.

Currently only full-price shipping is available to the EAST of Canada which means the same again dragging them to the NWT, anyone taking a vehicle into Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton ...?

Default Shipping Cars to Western Canada

Hi Gord,
Garry here in ocean shipping in Montreal. Most people send autos in 20' containers. Not enough room to include your trailers. You'd have to get someone shipping a 40' that would have enough room to include your cargo.Therein lies your problem-finding someone. Most shippers,as I mentioned before go thru freight forwarders.I'll put the question to some of my freight forwarder buddies at our localpub at lunchtime.

Default thanks Garry

I've been looking at the companies in BC that containerise luber products to here in Scotland - I noticed one that ships from Vancouver area to Grangemouth which is local.

I don't suppose they return the empty containers though, just stick them on the pile. The number of routes and possibilities we've checked out is quite a pile, but anything that'll get these trailers to the NWT cheap(ish) would be fine by us.

regards,

Gordon

Default Result....

after years of trying, one phone call to the main agent at my local port (Grangemouth) got me a competitive quote direct to Calgary, which is at least on the same side of the continent as Sean, and the trailers are off there now.

Now if only I could make a living out of this.......

Thanks to Garry for his advice.

Gordon
