Here's a long shot Glenn, I've made several trips to Long Beach and C.F.B. Comox over the years and I used to pass a service station on the left hand side of the road that had a CMP wrecker. I seem to recollect a couple of CMPs in the yard behind the station. The service station was before the turn off to Tofino/Ucluelet, near where the sod roofed building with the goat always grazing on top. However, on my last trip which was in August, 2000, there was no sign of any CMPs. You might want to snoop around that area and ask the locals, you never know what might turn up. Also, it'll give you a good excuse to have a pint at the F.B.I. (Fanny Bay Inn to all you Easterners!) Like I said, it's a long shot!

By the way, does Lloyd Gilmour still own the N.H.L. (Nanaimo Harbour Lights) restaurant? Lloyd used to be a referee back in the '70's.

I think the NHL restaurant closed a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if he is still around Nanaimo or not. Are you from the Island?

I lived briefly, 3 years, on the Island in both Victoria and Nanaimo as a child. Then my folks moved us to the Mainland. Visited the Island many, many times over the years. Used to do a lot of scuba diving in the Gulf Islands and around Porlier Pass. Some of the best diving in the world is on Vancouver Island, and thats coming from someone who's dove in a lot of places!

I've heard the scuba diving is great here. Never done it myself though. I was just talking to a guy in Ladysmith yesterday about some CMP parts, he said he was involved with the sinking of a Boeing 737 for an artificial reef down in Chemanus. They did it Saturday morning. So that will make some more good diving.
