Default Ram WD census numbers

Is there an on-line listing of all Ram WD numbers (Cruisers, Kangaroos, Towers, BARVs, Badgers, etc...?) Is there any interest if I were to host this on my website?
I have a list of many of these and what happened to them but it would be nice to track them through their various units also.

Default Great Idea

Clive I have already posted 157 names and numbers onto the MAFVA resources site. That does not include those posted on MLU by Tony. It would be nice to try and tie some of them down to specific units etc.
Sounds like a good idea to me.

Cheers
Kevin

Here is one which is not on Kevin’s list. A late Ram II, A12,CT 160030 belonging to the Sherbrooke Fusiliers along with “Panzer Grenadiers” of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during training in England in April 1944.

I can't add much in the way of names but I do have lists of Rams transferred to the British, Rams converted to Towers, Ammo carriers, etc.. Some additional WD lists of Rams going to or coming from Oldfields, a list of Ram WDs lost at sea as well as maybe 50 TKC numbers and their WD equivalent.
Much of this is getting copied right now so it will be a few weeks before I can post anything.

I can upload all the scanned pages I have, ideally we should enter all the census numbers into a spreadsheet like Kevin has done, or better an online database.

My HTML skills are limited so I can host something but don't know how to set up an on-line database that can be accessed by outside contributors.

Hi Hanno,

I have that list also but I think that mine is Jan 45 and, if you got your copy through Don Dingwall, then I think that yours is end-of-war?
Not trying to do one-upmanship, but the lists I saw yesterday at Archives also show units in some cases ands are part of the "census" files.
I know that nobody in this thread is interested, but I also have some lists, by WD number, of Shermans issued to specific Canadian units. This was going to be a surprise that my son was going to bring to Holland this spring.

Default Post them please!

Hanno,

Please post the list of WD serials.

Clive,

I have around 600 ish, many with names, WD serials for Canadian regiments covering Shermans, Stuarts, Sextons, M10's, carriers.
If you do get an on-line database let me know. I would be happy to contribute.

Cheers
Kevin

Correct on both points, Don Dingwall sent me these scans and they are dated June/July 1945.

I am going to do a web page (several actually) to record RAM WD numbers and other data, so question whether Kevin would want to duplicate it? On the other hand, Kevin already has a head start and I can feed my stuff to him. What say you Mr. Tucker?
My idea was to enter any little bit of the Rams history that we came across, i.e.
CT 4010x - Feb 1943 used by 10 CAR (FGH), July 1943 at Oldfields, Aug 1943 used at assault landing training, Inverness, Scotland, Jan 1944, SOS to War Office, Jan 1945 now named "Betsy" and converted to Kangaroo for use by 49 ACR

Default Kangaroos

Needless to say, both Hanno and I (and I'm sure others such as Clive) would be delighted to see as many of the 1CACR Rams identified by W/D number (as well as by name if possible).

A start for this was made here. In the past few (7, come to think of it!) years people like Bill and Kevin have collected many more data. What we need is a central point to collect and amend this sort of data. The first step is to determine the format before someone spends a huge amount of time entering data into a spreadsheet, webpage or database, only to find out it was the wrong choice. I'm thinking something along the lines of what the Power-Wagon Registry has available on-line would fit the bill.

Any thoughts on this? Who can help? Any IT guru's here?

H.

Default Bring it on!

Clive, Hanno, and anyone else

I currently have 3200+ named WWII British / Commonwealth / Aussie / Polish / Czech, tanks, trucks and carriers along with 5200 + WD serials covering F, S, T as well as CF, CS and CT numbers and 700 ish softskin numbers.
So if anyone wants to forward them to me directly I have no problem with entering them up. It should be easy enough to manipulate the spreadsheet.

Cheers
Kevin

.... and NO!, I'm not trying to edge open Pandora's box a little bit more ........

Here's the first shot Ram Tanks. I started with the later numbers for no special reason. I will post links to known photos and add additional information as time goes on. Ultinately I will move everything to its own domain.

Nice work.
Will you be including AoS and turret / Sqn - troop numbers and names for vehicles alloted to known regiments in future?

Cheers

Kevin, go here to see all the sheets with Ram tank WD census numbers I have uploaded. I'm sure by the time we have figured out the best format for web display, you will have them all entered into your Excel spreadsheet. Like you say, it should be easy enough to manipulate the spreadsheet or export the data into a web format.
