Default testing the water...wanted CMP,C8,Humber,etc

Ok a pal of mine is looking to buy into the ww2 MV game, he is looking for a softskin vehicle something along the lines of a CMP be it ford / Chevvy... or British Morris comercial / Humber etc etc. I dont beleive he is looking for a ground up resto, preferably something which needs tidying up or finished off. his budget is under 8000 GBP and would prefer something on the mainland UK but hey...pending on what you have and at what price may consider importing.

The unit must be able to pull a large horsebox trailer (for two horses) part of the conditions of him being allowed a new toy is that his wife gets to use it to tow the horses to the local shows......wish my wife was as easy to settle as this !

So boys and girls.....what you got ?

Cheers

If your friend wants a tractor: http://milweb.net/classifieds/large_...ad=53317&cat=3. Mind you, I'm not sure if his missus will like driving an old army truck if she's not into it.

If he wants something British, go for http://www.milweb.net/webverts/53780/ or http://milweb.net/classifieds/large_...ad=53276&cat=3

Hope this helps Ritchie. . .

i will pass these on but so far so good guys

Right been chatting to my pal... the 60's are no good as the wheelbase is too large for his missus. however he really really likes the look of the HUP's and FAT's especially as they appear to have a crew compartment.... i never realised how many variants of these vehicles there were ! i thought carriers were bad ..sheesh !

Richie

Ps keep em comming if you know of one.... i am motivating him as its always nice to have softskin trucks mingled in with a section of carriers

Hmmm . . . HUPs are not really suitable for towing and complete FATs rarely come on the market. Maybe you friendīs best bet is a 15-cwt?

Let him do his homework, there is enough material available on this site alone. And check CMPs for sale in England to see what comes up for sale every now and then.

Hope this helps,
Hanno
