I don't suppose we need to tell you you've described them as 12.00-16's in the body of the listing?

Howard are you sure that they are RADIALS? I purchased a set from Bandiana a while ago and found out the hard way that they were rags not radials. Just asking Regards Rick.

Default Rags/Radials

Interesting, Rick.
On the side of my tyres is "12.00R20". I'm not sure about Truck tyres, but I know for certain "R" is for radial with light vehicle tyres... Can anyone confirm the same for truck tyres?

Default ARRRrrr

I thought "R" was a speed rating? I just checked in this is the speed rating calculator....

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyrspeed.html

It should state on the tyre whether it is radial-ply. It seems that what we call cross-plies others call bias-ply.

Post Speed Rating

On light vehicle tyres, the speed rating is at the end of the code.
Example, 265/50R14 84V means...
265= 265mm wide
50= sidewall profile as a percentage of width
R= Radial
14= rim size (14")
84= load rating
V= speed rating

What I am not sure of is if/how this applies to truck tyres...

Default Tyre Codes

A quick search has yielded this page with code break-downs, similar to car tyres.
So Rick, what was the code on your tyres & how did you come to work out they were rag??
I ask because I do not want to sell something that it's not...

It is indeed... 'R' indicates "Race" - these are racing tyres, suitable only for high speeds and smooth tracks.

Default Oh Dear!

Howard
See what happens when you try to emulate SALESMAN BOB. You get into all sorts of trouble. Salesman Howard just doesn't sound right. I think you should retyre from this game.

Default Trying for a sensible question

Howard your description seems a little vague on just how many tyres are up for auction.

Sorry, gjamo. To be sold as a set of 4. I have edited the ebay listing to make this more obvious. Thanks for your input!

Post Tyre Sizes

OK all I have spoken to my tyre man.
12.00x20 = 12" wide, 20" rim, rag construction
12.00R20 = 12" wide, 20" rim, Radial construction
All truck tyres are uniform aspect ratio unless otherwise stated
Speed rating will be specified elsewhere.

Howard
Are the tyres in Roadworthy Condition? What percentage of tread left do you think, and finally do they all have the same amount of wear?
Thanks
Rich

Default Condition of tyres

G'Day Rich,
Mate I am unable to say what % of tread is remaining as I do not have a new one to compare them with. I have selected 4 tyres with what I would consider roadworthy tread. I have a couple of others that have the same tread depth but are damaged from rocky work, so I will not sell them...
I would estimate tread depth at the inside (shallowest) part of scollop to be 8mm.
