Kangaroo Valey
Max I hate you. Watching the old girls make their way over the Hampden bridge must be quite the sight to behold...
Give us a heads up next time & I'd love to ride shotgun... Have a great trip. HH

trip
We left Yass at 8am with Ashley, John and myself meeting Mark sierant at Tarrago. We had a quick of the Lake Bathurst area looking at the lake and the underground fuel storage bunkers built by the americans suring the war. We then headed to Goulburn and to the Kangaroo Valley which was a fair pull for the old blitz ending up at Nowra where we met with the Grubers and the McGrath family from Yass.
Up early the next morning to be set up at the airshow by 7.30am. The airshow kicked off at 10.30 am with asircraft demonstrations on all the time. There was one fellow there that put on a pretty good show with his aerobatics only just clearing the ground at times. Me not knowing much about aircraft I can't give you any detail on this. After some quick repaires to the Grubers brakes on their chev blitz we headed back home on Monday taking the back roads via Neriga, Tarrago and Gunning. I had a fuel line some loose on the Ford and after quick repaires was back on the road again, John had a pot of bother on the jeep which needed the call for a rescue trailer to get him home. A good time was had by all and a blitz always turns heads when it drives down the road. Max |

Max The Blitz Part Charmer
Now to see Max work a crowd I mean a big crowd was impresive. The country burnt and wrinkled face with "How ya Going do ya know abit bout Blitzs" was his opening line. By the end of the day Max had a small diary full of names of people who once had a blitz still have a Blitz or whose uncle once worked on them, just in case he had left a few gaskets to them in the will.
A Real Blitz Chamer What he fails to mention is his new found status bestowed to Max by the tour guide at Lake Bathurst. The gentleman concluded that Max was atually John Hedges Pop. Cause Max looked a good 20 years older than his older brother. So now it is Pop Hedges and John.

next trip
Howard, the next run we have on is a camping trip in June, Rusty is putting this one together.
On the Nowra trip all up we would have done 350 km and only some miner blitz trouble, on the other hand the jeep came to a stop. I'll have to watch myself next time with Rusty lurking in the back ground picking up a few points, I surpose I am good to watch though Max..... the old wise one |

Putting the jeep to the test in the sand at a river crossing turned out to be not a good move. Of couse I was led a stray by others, that will remain unnamed Dad. But being a ford it lives on for another trip, maybe the June trip, if Fiona (the owner) lets me take it. I told her I was just putting it to the test ready for an inland trip at some time in the future. A trip is not complete without a break down or two, just to put some added character into it. All up it was a most enjoyable trip, excellent scenary, top air show, good fellowship, and we all got a buss out of our vehicals.
