Default It's alive...

Yes, this adventure is still alive (although it is not the highest item on my priority list right now). Actually the decals are currently at a printer who is working up a quote. He has had them for about a month, and I need to stop in to see some samples of quality before committing to him running a batch. In order to get a bit of economy of scale, I have asked him to quote me for quantities that will make 20 sets. I want two or three sets for myself, and I have a list of about six people who have contacted me for sets. The rest will be available if anyone wants them. Im not sure of all the details yet, but I should be able to describe the situation better by next week. I have been away for work a lot lately, and this project has been somewhat idle.

I will post the info here as soon as I know more.

(Robert: I have you on the list already, but no commitment needed until I have all the details)

Grant and Rick: I was sanding the inside of my battery cover today, and under some heavy brushed on paint I found the same "CAUTION" decal that you both posted. It is in the exact same location & orientation as shown in Grant's photo. I'll see if I can get this one reproduced with the others.

Default Quick update...

I guess my timeline slipped a bit. I finally had time to meet the printer today abut the decal sets. I added the "CAUTION" decal that goes under the battery cover to the order. He will run some samples for approval and then proceed with the order for 20 sets.

If all goes well with the samples and we move forward with the run, Ill contact those who have expressed interest with the cost per set. Ill pass the sets through at cost plus postage.

I should have another update in a few days.

I have received a few "sample" decals from the printer for approval. The decals in the photo below are all test-print samples. With a few minor adjustments to font, these ones will go to print.

The seatbelt warning and Canada flag decals are not up to my expectations yet, so a bit more work to be done on those... Ill have another update when those two decals have progress.

Default The decals have all been printed...

All of the decals were printed today. I ran enough to make 20 complete sets. They all came pre-masked for ease of installation. Below is a photo of what each set is made up of (9 decals per set). Keep in mind they have the white masking over the surface in this photo:
2 - Canadian Flags
2 - Fire Warning
1 - Danger Pressurized Cooling System
1 - Seat belt (CFAO 36-6)
1 - Bell housing drain plug
1 - Caution Check Battery...
1 - Warning (Intercom & Radio Equipment)

Ill be sending a PM to all of you who have requested sets. Once I get final commitments from those who expressed early interest, I will post any remaining sets for sale here.

Wayne, let's see some of the final results after you applied to your awesome jeep resto!!!
BTW, I think you need some original unit markings if known to finish it all off.

Hi Wayne
I was poking around on my CDN3 this afternoon and was able to remove the paint on my windshield frame which revealed the long yellow radio decal. Funny, one of my CDN3 jeeps has it and the other does not.
Would you be willing to entertain having your guy reproduce these ones as well?

Hi Chris,
I would, but I have no example to base the design from. Basically we would need to have a clean sample of the decal to develop (digitize) the graphic.

Later examples were in red and silver instead. I was just given one the other week in a large batch of M37 parts (about a ton of them) so could make it available. You would have to have the printer change the background colours.

Hi Rob, is the font and sizing the same as the original black and yellow ones?
I must admit, after stripping the paint of the decal it makes for a striking contrast on the dash panel.

If you go back to post 26, I show the new one. A few posts earlier is the original on a Jeep dash. You'll have to copy and confirm the font etc, as I don't have an original yellow one to compare to.

They are, I believe, the same NSN.

Rob, if I could borrow one from you to compare the font or otherwise send you a tracing on parchment that you could confirm for us maybe we could get some of these on the go?

If you are going to have them made up, then I would be happy to mail the one I just got to you in exchange for a yellow one. PM me your mailing address.

Due to a few recent requests for decal sets (and me not being able to say no), I got 8 more decal sets made up. If anyone still wants them, let me know. Like the others, they are going out at $40 including postage within Canada (this is basically the actual cost - not including my fuel to drive around).

Also, as per the posts above, Chris, Rob and I will be making up a few of the long yellow and black radio warning decals (see Grant's photos in post #19). If anyone wants one (or more) please let us know now, as I don't intend to do multiple runs of this one decal. This one will be tricky for postage, as it is too long for an envelope. I expect to roll them up and put them in a small box, so postage will be a bit more. Unfortunately I don't have an estimate on the cost of this decal yet, but it might be in the $10 range plus postage, depending on volume.

I would be interested in 2 of the long yellow ones. Perhaps rolling them inside a section of cardboard poster tube and using an Express Post envelope might work cheaper than a package box. Seems to me the rule for the envelope is whatever you can stuff in and seal it for one fixed price.

Excellent suggestion Grant! Yes that will be a better way to ship them. Thanks.

Default Decals

I have the same caution decal on my CDN2 battery box cover. Has the decal reproduction project gone through? I will need the Canadian forces specific decals for my 1967 M38A1CDN2 UN jeep restoration project also. Please let me know!

Thanks!

I have not made much progress on the long yellow radio warning decals yet. I have Rob's sample but that's about it. Ive been busy at work, and have had trouble coordinating a meeting with the printer. ill be away until mid-November, and then Ill try to get this project kick-started again.

I still have a few sets available (as listed above).

Not surprisingly, I noticed some of these decals are on my recently acquired M37.

Jerry: Im holding one set for you.
