Default 1939 (VC) 1.5 ton truck. 158-1/2" WB-Front Section Torque Tube Parts...

Hello there,

I am looking for the front section of the torque tube for my 1939 (1.5 ton) 158-1/2" wheelbase truck... It is about 49" overall. Individual components are:

GM 3654084 shaft, measures 49-3/4"
GM 599127 Housing, measures 49"
GM 599126 Housing/Shaft assembly

After some time searching, I have finally gotten a hold of a used front torque tube assembly but it is a little rough... I have found some information on the replacement parts, but would like to confirm a couple of things...

The end facing fwd (gearbox) has a (bronze) or sometimes steel/bronze bushing GM 600962, dowel pin GM 347813, and oil seal GM 3652271. Not sure if it is the correct number... If so, does anyone have a modern cross reference?

Also, some aftermarket replacement bushings came with a cork gasket which I have not been able to find in the parts breakdown...

There is also supposed to be a center (all steel) bushing GM 373607, which was not inside the tube, and wonder if it contributed to the excessive wear on the front section of the shaft and bushing. I imagine it is absolutely necessary?...

It must be a tight fit inside the tube, since there is no dowel pin or set screw to keep the bushing from spinning along with the shaft which may cause another problem...

Lastly, there seems to be a special washer fitted to the opposite end of the shaft, (which also has a roller bearing GM 903207 and and lock ring GM 366989) used with a bolt tying together the center u-joint... There was only a regular lock washer, and wonder how important this other spacer/washer might be... Believe it can be found on group 4.444. Also looking for the locking rings for the u-joint bearings found on GM 609948 repair kit.

Any helpful information locating parts and putting together is appreciated here... Thank you.
