chev side lights

HELLO ALL
Does anyone have any information on chev side light colours
as of all the side lights i have found on various wrecks over the years ive only found one pair that had white glass all the others
were red did they run on red side lights in those days?

Chev (and Ford) front side lights all had white lenses here (Australia) and the rear ones had red. There were green reflectors mounted behind the holes in the front bumper too.

Thanks for the reply yes i have the bumper jewels on my chev C15 it does seem strange that nearly all i have found have been red one of those mysterys i supose i was watching a documentary here some time back about surviving in the outback
ie what to eat ond what not to eat when suddenly in the background was a long line of twelve cab not sure if they were chev or ford there must have been at least 20 one had a greas-gun laying on the front so they are probably still there keep your eyes open keith they were in a desert type aerea

Sounds like the stories of Kangaroos roaming our city streets, Vic.
Be interesting to find out the name of the documentary... There was one made in the 1970s by Alby Mangels (which I haven't seen) featuring a collection of CMPs on a Pacific Island. Anyone seen this one?

Now that I've recovered from an automatic last message posting before I had finished and a computer crash, I'll try again.

These posts resurrect an old query of mine re. the various colours of bumper jewels. I have been told that they came in red, white, blue and green. Is this true and why the variations in colour? This query defeated you lot last time, time to try again.

These red light lenses could have been put on the front
from the rear by persons unknown i supose as the same little light fitting was used on the back was it not . as to the jewels
i have only seen them in green like mine which came from
brian asbury never found any attached to an old bumper sorry to say vic uk .

I watched most of that series religously Keith. Had nothing to do with the lovely scantily clad young ladies Albie seemed to attract. The only episode I saw with military vehicles on Pacific islands was one were they found several old very rusty 6x6 GMC,s. They managed to get one started with a jerry can of fuel strapped to the roof and drove it around on what was left of the tyres.

That would have been Truscott airfield in the north of Western Australia. I saw that programme about 10 years ago, it was Les, the Bush Tucker Man. A friend from Vic. said they found the place years ago, access is not good from inland and if my memory serves me, all the vehicles were brought in from the coast, that would be why they had been left there no doubt.

It was definitely Alby Mangels. From memory "World Safari II".
I think we all crowded into the local town hall to watch it. Was released like a lot of the early Australia travel adventures to do tours of local townhalls and not released for TV untill years later.

Graeme,
I think the programme Vic is refering to is definitely Les Hiddins (Bush Tucker Man) as he show a line of old Blitzs gently rusting away at Truscott. And this is a relativly recent prog as Les uses a Land Rover 110 in it.

i thank all for thier input i was begining to think i had dreamt that line of old chevs i dont think i had b etter go looking for them though as i got lost in your lovely county the other day i turned the wrong way on the A21 from bigging hill vic uk
