Default CMPs for sale in Canada

I came across some stuff that's for sale and told the collector I'd post it on this forum for him since he doesn't have internet access. His name is Mike and he's situated near Melfort, Sask. Phone him at 306-277-2004. The CMP is a 1945 HUP staff car with the sliding windows. It's mostly there and is driveable.

Here's the Penguin pictures. The Caddy engine has been replaced with a 318 Chrysler but the rest looks original. The tracks are good and it was used this fall in hunting season.

Here's some misc CMPs he has for sale too. The two on the left are F15s and the other is a F30S with the crossmember for the winch.

Default C15a on milweb

Now, that's a temptation. Some little voice has been tellng me it's time I got serious about a long-tem CMP project, after playing about with Land Rovers for some time. I was just eyeing another C15A chassis and cab on offer on CONVOY ads.
As for this on on milweb, it would be the logistics of getting it from Quebec to Manitoba ... tempting, though.

Aaah, you must be the fellow who bought that15cwt from Derk - he mentioned you were working out the movement details. I had a look at it at his place a few weeks back ... it's what got me thinking it was about time I pursued my own, when I saw that one was going south.

Yes, Mark, its me, the silly american, who wanted a CMP for 10 years. The weird part is Gordon posted the ad and he was the 1st person to help me learn about CMPs!

Still calculating how to get it here....sigh.

Jonnie: I'm beginning to understand your problem, after looking into various options ... might look for something closer to home.

Oooh, James ML - very nice. I had a Triumph TRW a few years back, but in my dreams would really like Norton 16H

Default CMPs for sale in Canada

Fellas, I recently aquired a chassis w/ engine that I wish to sell.
It is a Chev w/ 216cid engine that runs very well.
I believe this chassis is a CGT. It has a 2 speed transfer case and what appears to be the bracket surface for the winch pillow blocks to mount to. The left frame rail is bent and much of the cross members are in bad shape.
Realistically, it is a good parts machine at least for the engine and drivetrain as well as a few takeoff pieces.
Asking $600, PM me if interested.

I could be interested in the transmission, Is the rear bearing retainer intact. How about the front Brakes, are they the larger CGT type?

Default Dozen+ CMPs for sale (Canada)

Not from me, but I heard from a fellow in the know that the CMPs that are at the Stan Reynolds museum in Wetaskiwan Alberta, are going to be available for sale starting next week.

If some of you sleuths are going to 411.ca the phone number, just know that there is the Stan Reynolds museum, which is part of the tractor salvage yard (that is who has the trucks for sale), and there is also the Reynolds-Alberta museum. The Reynolds Alberta museum is a provincially funded museum which was started with some donations from Stan, and because it is owned and funded by the oil rich Alberta govt, does not sell it's artifacts so don't call them.

Default This sort of bothers me

You know it always sort of bothers me when I see a museum selling off parts their collections. A museum near me has been selling off military vehicles and parts for the last several years since the death of the founder. Many if not all the vehicles sold so far were collected by one individual the founder and he was I am sure aware that much of what he collected was not destined for display. But many other vehicles, aircraft were donated and I always wonder are the terms of the donation being honored.

I don't know if donations applied to Reynold's. They were always advertising in the Western Producer to buy anything green. I recall one time when one of our locals scooped them on a T28 or something along those lines. Reynolds called first, but the snowstorm meant he showed up late. Reynolds was not happy, to say the least.

Default Reynolds

They have one of the best, if not the best collection of aircraft in private collector hands in the world. The cmps and other kit are in poor condition and were never restored as far as I can see. They are very restorable though. I undersatnd he was a fighter pilot so his true love lies there.\
They had a Sabre on a trailer that had just arrived when I was there last. Search this site and you will find a bunch of pictures I posted of the vehicles there. My cds are all in storage now so I can not send anyone current pics
Next time I am in Edmonton with some time I will swing down and take some pics, though the last time I was there, they closed the museum from sept. to spring sometime.

Apparently they sold their 8cwt stuff (8 vehicles?) to someone from Calgary area last week. Anyone know who that would be?

Default I may enquire anyway ...

Well, heck. I was just out to Alberta and back a couple of weeks ago with my 18-ft car hauler for a little old Sankey trailer, and what with spending on HUP project items, my "green" budget is now tapped out. Mustn't ... lose ... focus.

Found this one on ebay. Looks good, it needs a good home. Sorry I must be doing something wrong since I couldn't get the picture to appear.

Default Thank you.....

Big thanks to Hanno for pointing out that the truck was available relatively in our backyard..... sure shows how much the world has shrunk with the web...... a worth while project when one considers that about half of the resto bull work as already been done...... and with a rebuilt engine.

Almost enough parts to make two trucks..... save from the crusher by Kaptain Natcho.......

Default It would be nice...

but I would like to check several details of the PO's (not Petty Officer, previous owner) work. Such things as CV joints, did the axles get cleaned inside after sandblasting and before reassembly, state of the brakes and lines, remove the attempted conversion to LHD power steering and install RHD steering, get master cylinder in place so the lines can be filled and checked for leaks.

I won't be able to follow your sage advice to "take lots of pictures before you take it apart" since the PO did much disassembly and a fair bit of reassembly. As you saw, in some ways it resembles a 1:1 model kit with (almost) all the pieces there, but no instructions included. You know, "some assembly required".

Good to hear this truck has been given a good home by a forum member (not often that I get feedback on posts like this, possibly because us ROTTERS tend to keep these sort of leads as secrets).

Congrats Grant, keep us posted on progress!

Default That answers my questions

congratulations.....You won me out. If there was no takers on the trucks and parts I was negotiating my 42/43 MB project with Luc as a swap.

Regardless at least they have a good home....my CMP search continues.

Cheers and all the best.
