Can anyone tell me a little more about this plate? It's mounted in the side of the dash and there has never been any plates mounted on top of the dash. thanks for the help

Hi Ian,

To clarify, is that data plate on a 12 or 13 cab Chev 60 cwt?

The plate appears to be mounted on the door end of a cab 13 instrument panel.

Ian and Grant,

From my observation on CMP Chevs, the start of 13 cab production and introduction of the later style data plate did not coincide exactly. Where the "old" style (cab 11 & 12) data plate was used on early 13 cabs, the build date and contract number were placed on the bottom of the shift pattern plate, located on the front of the engine cover.

I have never found a written reference as to when the switchover in plate style occurred, certainly not in the service bulletins.

Yes it's a Cab 13. It's one of 4 trucks I received today. Not an engine cover in sight

thanks Frank. What would I look for to tell me exactly what I'm dealing with. It was modified after the war into a forklift I believe.

Default data plate

as far as I know all these converted fork lift trucks were done by the Sedore family in Mount Albert, I remember as a kid when we went up to Lake Simcoe they had CMP's parked next to the rail line waiting to be converted, all these were very much modified to the point of only being good for parts, I purchased 1 truck from Bruce Sedore , he was a very good source as he knew the locations of a lot trucks,

Yes I was told these were done in Mt. Albert by the owner. I just wanted to know exactly what it was before I stripped it for what parts are left. I hate doing it but unless it was something special, it's too far gone. Here's one of the other ones I received. It's a 44. Also modified in Mt Albert.
