Default US old family radios in Canadian service

Hi,
I was at a swap meet this last weekend, and a fellow had a RT66 in a M38A1CDN.
Questioning him regarding this set in a Canadian M38A1, he informed me had been told by a radio group in Europe that the Canadians did use these radios for a short period of time. He hinted this was a 5 year span.
So, I assumed possibly late in Korea and shortly after.
I also read Bruce's comments on trialing C42's vs the RT66 series of radios.

Yes, your honour I understand the charges. The internet told me it was OK.

Anything is possible, but not necessarily true. My Goofle search says it was a common NATO radio starting after the 1950s. It is possible the radio was trialed, but that is different than putting into service. Perhaps there was a need to use its particular frequency band to talk to the other nations? Dunno.
