Caged nuts
Svenn,
MacsAuto in the USA have the 1/4 - 20 ones, under 1932-1947 Early Ford pickup: http://macsautoparts.com/early-ford-...ction/showall/ They are 0.95c US each. They also have the 5/16 and 3/8 sizes but NOT with the TPI you want. I'm sure I have come across a manufacturer for these nuts, somewhere. If I find the details, i'll let you know.

Here is where Mac's gets them I think
Hi Svenn
Mac's is probably the easiest source, I've used them. I have another source that use to have a minimum order of about 100 per size, I'll try and find the name off the boxes, ordered from them years ago. More recently though I found the outfit that I think is actually making them for everybody else but their minimum order is depending on size 250-2000. http://apexprecision.thomasnet.com/v...ners?forward=1 Cheers Phil

I've been looking under the wrong name in Fastenal
Thanks Svenn
I've search Fastenal web site and master catalog and did not find them, even had the guys at the local dealer search. Now when I search on this side of the pond I'm only seeing the 1/4x20, 1/4x28 and M8 did your search show the other sizes needed for CMP? Now we have a number of names these things have been found under: Weld nut Caged Nut Captive Nut Floating Captive Nut. Cheers Phil

SPAE-NAUR out of Kitchener, Ontario (I think), used to carry the two styles of cage nuts that Ford and Chev installed on their CMP front fenders. They also carried the correct fender welting with the proper bead, T-shaped windshield gaskets, exterior door handles for the Cab 11 and 12 CMP's, and the dual track felt channelling used in the Cab 13 sliding rear window assembly. Lift-the Dot fasteners and related installation tools were also in their catalogue. Might be worth looking into, if they are still around.
Good luck with your project. David |

Hi again.
Fastenal have most sizes. Do a search for weld nut - http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/p...eno=13&refine= Page 12- and 13 shows the sizes available. Svenn |

That worked better
Hi Svenn
Yes "weld nut" gets all the sizes while "weldnut" only got the small three sizes. Check to see where I was buying them 100 each and it was Mac's and at that time they gave me a discount of the prices shown for ordering in quantity. Glad to find where they are in the Fastenal catalog because though their prices are often better (always better than the local hardware store) the guys in the stores don't really know what they have and if you can't give them the correct name they can't find stuff. Cheers Phil

Here is a source for the special 1/4-20 cage nuts that goes in the front for the bolts for the grill, and at least for some plates in the cab as well.
