Oil filter seal
When changing the engine oil filter, one often encounters an old seal on the filter cap. Nick Paulussen in Belgium had a custom batch made by a specialized seal manufacturer. So the seal is made from material to withstand oil and typical temperatures.
I’ve fitted one to my F15A and can wholeheartedly recommend it. Contact Nick via his e-mail if you want to buy them at €15 each.

I have pretty much always found them included with the filter. I could see needing a new one if you were using a very old NOS filter, but personally I would use fresh stock.
There are exceptions of course..the mk2 carrier and lynx filters come to mind. There is only old stock. |

The above mentioned filter fit, but the provided gasket did not. The previous owner had the same problem, and thus continued to apply liquid silicone sealing kit on top of the original gasket. Unfortunately during the last oil change, it was ruptured to the point beyond repair. This prompted me go to go in search of a fitting gasket. |

I could see it as a regional problem. When I check my local autoparts store here, the equivalent NAPA 1010 filter with gasket is only $13. They have one in stock here and 40 more at the warehouse in the city.
I guess there are plenty of things available in Europe that we find next to impossible to locate here. |
