C 30 Diff Covers
Guys,
Attached are a picture of the front diff cover from my 1942 C30 LAAT, the other two are from another C30 front axle front cover. Question is - has anyone come across the 2nd and 3rd type/picture before, which is flattened around the level plug, as all of the liturature I have only shows the spherical type. I await your learned answers ! Regards Keith Last edited by Keith Orpin; 11-06-10 at 22:26. Reason: text edidting |

I've noticed some armored vehicles have a plate shielding this area. Could it be something to do with that?

yes you are right , the C15TA and Otter have these Shields over the diff cover and therefore the little flat area for these.

Thanks guys for the quick reply !, I knew I had seen this type before, but could'nt remember where. The next logical step for me now is to offer this cover to anyone who can give it a good home, as I don't think I'll find the rest of the bits to make up a C15TA !

Wait a minute......
..... that same diff. cover is seen on a lot of the regular C15a and larger models as well.....and is NOT exclusive to the armoured version. Maybe they just made too many and they had to use them some how.....
I have never seen them on original cab 11/12 axles always on cab 13..... some old some late 45....... but that part could easily be replaced in a field area if the front axle had suffered damage..... yet I do not ever remember seeing them on the rear axle even though they would fit.... Does anyone know the story for that conversion in design....? Boob
