Default Swords and Ploughshares Military Vehicle Rally - Kemptville, ON - July 2 2011

Hi Folks,

I recently opened a paintball field in Kemptville, Ontario, just south of Ottawa and have concentrated in bringing realistic scenario games to the area. In the fall of 2010, after players were asking for yet another D-Day paintball game, I heeded their call and gave them an Ortona scenario game instead. Mike Calnan has been incredibly supportive of our efforts and to that end, he brought out a 6pdr to the Ortona game and fired a blank to start the day off! Needless to say, the players were, ummmm.... blown away?

In return, I've decided to assist Mike in his quest to acquire a building to house the permanent collection of the Swords and Ploughshares Museum. Mike acquired the D-Day Diorama that used to sit in the old Canadian War Museum. Myself and some other modelers plan to restore it, but not until we have a home for it.

Thus, the Swords and Ploughshares Military Vehicle Rally which we will hold on Saturday July 2 2011. On that day the speedball fields at the front of our property will be closed and behind them we will open a field for displaying vehicles. Those exhibiting vehicles will be admitted free and provided with lunch. If they would like to take aim at my staff, we can kit you up with paintball gear. We will be offering space to vendors.

Admission prices will be posted shortly. If you have any questions, please contact me via the website linked in my signature. My telephone number is listed on the site for those that want immediate contact.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you there!

Cheers!

Dana

P.S. For those that require accommodations, there is a Howard Johnson's literally next door to the field!

Wow! Nice logo. Who did the graphics? Hopefully I will be able to drag my HUP to the event, which is close to it's original Ontario home - The S&P Museum.

That's a riot! Mike said you'd be pleased with it!

I did the logo in CorelDraw. Will probably offer T-Shirts featuring it on CafePress later.

Glad to hear you can make it!

Cheers!

Yes it sounds like a good day out and if can support that poor misguided gunner Mike, it will be a pleasure. We have a field kitchen available if required. Gilles

Hi Gilles,

Will be great to finally meet you! As far as the kitchen is concerned, we do have a young lady running our snack bar at the moment. She might be interested in the field kitchen though!

Cheers!

yes indeed tres cool logo... T-shirts might be a good idea.

something to think about...logos on the back are much more easily read and noticed than on the front?
anyway sounds like its gonna be a lot of fun... Canada Day and the rally

Also, if you are "man sized" like some of are, logos on the front amplify the belly on the front.

Default Swag!

Hi Folks,

I added a section to my CafePress store for the Rally. Over 100 items available to purchase from t-shirts, to beer steins, to Ipad & Iphone cases! All prices are in Canadian Dollars and are shipped from Canada. All profits go to the museum building fund.

We have our first vendor! Clive Law will be selling books at the show and exhibiting!

I can see myself now ... (due dreamy harp music) Get a City of Ottawa chip wagon licence. Park on Elgin Street downhill from the National War Memorial. Sell fries and grill fried bullybeef to the summer tourists. Does it come with galvanized messtin wash tubs and surly kitchen general duties workers?

That would be a sight to see! That said, dealing with the City of Ottawa was so pleasant, I opened my paintball field in Kemptville.

Hi Dana, Mike
I'd like to bring my Ford 8cwt CMP - maybe it can mate with Mike's C8! Any possibility of overnight camping?

Dana
1- any sort of a flea market of our stuff that we can set up? I have items to sell.
2- - as an added T-shirt you could make and sell, what about something on the brilliant but lamented Avro Arrow?

Hey Folks,

Just back from Barbados. Sorry for not posting sooner. Was at my friends paintball field which is at Paragon base. One of the playing fields is Dr. Gerald Bull's former launching site for the space gun. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to photograph it as we were there for a night game... Next year...

Unfortunately my insurance won't allow for camping (So that I don't run Summer Camps....) so that's out, but it sounds like you've found another location so that's great.

Will be ironing out some wrinkles and posting more information shortly. We have our opening game on April 23rd so this is getting to be the busy season.

Lastly, Gilles! I need to buy a Deuce & a half! Contact me when you can!

Cheers!

Dana

Default Dana bought a Deuce

Congradulations Dana after all these years you finally have a MV. Today Dana came over to the yard and acquired a MLVW for his paintball field. After we tune and tweak it, we will deliver it next week. You should have seen this, the deuce sat in the snowbank all winter the batteries were weak and cranked slowly but when we put the boaster cables on she fired up right away. After a gentle warm up Marc put her in low gear and drove it out of the snowbanks. Newer trucks today would of stayed in the snowbank till later this spring.
The wife will be happy one less truck in the yard.
Gilles

Marc is referring to the annual July 1st parade organised by Mike Calnan - will this happen this year?

Spoke with Mike today and he invited to attend so I assume from that that it is still on.
