Hi

Not sure how to post pictures so if anyone would like to see our progress on a Canadian Ford Lynx Mk1 being restored right here in Canada please check out http://www.cmedcentre.ca/ then go to restorations. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Dan, I only get a grey screen with a black frame. Is this link good or is it me again?
Cheers,
Barry

Default Didn't work for me either

The link required that I download a flash driver or some such thing to view that my home computer is unable to do, and my work computer is so locked down I can't. I'm really curious to see your Lynx!!

G'day Dan, Photos downloaded ok on my clunker. One question though, why have you left the gun hatch in the front armour as a straight cut opening? I'm attaching a photo which shows that the hatch is tapered on all sides and does nor have a cutuot at the top. Regards Rick

Hi

I'm told that this is one of the differances between the Mk1 and Mk2 Lynx. Please let me know if this is incorrect.

Hi

All new web sites and anything on the internet pretty much uses flash player for security. It keeps all your web site info locked so people can't hack it. It is also what runs your pictures and video.

Free download at

www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Hi Dan
Thanks for the download. It says 2 minutes or so but in the wilds of Castleton it took 30 minutes to download. Anyway I was able to view your photos. Nice job!
Cheers,
Barry

G'day Dan,
My lynx is a Mk2 and even the Mk 3 has the same full piece across the top. The Mk3 does not have the armoured roof, but has extra padding around the entire opening and a wider return at the windscreen top. I have plenty of photos if you require extra proof. Regards Rick

Default Lynx

Hi

Thanks Rick for your imput on the gun port but I'm told that the Mk1 had straight sides on the port and open to the top.

Perhaps someone on this site has a good picture of the port on a Mk1.

Please let me know if I'm still wrong on this.

Thanks

Dan

G'day Dan,
Your right, I missed the fact that yours is a Mk1. I've scanned a few pages from the Mk1 parts book which might help you. There are 5 pages. There is a front view outside, interior, close-up of gun hatch, and parts listing for both the upper and lower hatches. So I learnt that there is not one but two hatches. They do have bevelled edges, hope this helps.

Default "The Phoenix"

Rick.

Do you know if "The Phoenix" is a running museum piece? We are hoping to brag that we have the only running MK1 outside or maybe inside of any museum. There is a MK1 in a museum in Israel but we are told it is empty.

Dan

G'day Dan,
I don't know about the Mk1 at Pucka. but I believe there is one Mk1 operational in South Australia at Mallala and another being restored near Birdwood. I can't confirm this but maybe one of the S.A. MLU members can. Hope the pages from the partsbook helped.

Hi Dan,

You talking about this one ? The top of the hull is welded, no way to take a picture inside.

Attached photo of a Lynx which is held by the THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MILITARY HISTORY in Johannesburg. I believe it is a runner, but this would have to be confirmed. The Museum is excellent with numerour WW2 vehicles, as well as post war, and Soviet stuff captured during the Angola war in the 70s. They also have the full set of each of the South African armoured cars produced during WW2. Well forth a visit.

Cheers

James

Dan, great idea opening the Canadian Military Education Centre. What with all the new Canadians and the activist politics of the BCTF, memory of the sacrifices of the "Greatest Generation" were in peril of vanishing after the passing of our generation. Good to see George is part of the "Gang of Four", I hope he stills displays his collection of SS uniforms as well as his correspondence with Traudl Junge.
I'm going to be back in Vancouver for the Remembrance Day weekend. I'm bringing my R.C.E. uniform with me and hope to join in a parade while I'm there. I'd also like to see your progress on your Lynx as well as your Diamond T. If you wouldn't mind, keep me apprised of any events that I might be able to join. Thanks, Derek.

Oh no!! hide the women and the beer.
No, wait, leave the women as decoys and drink the beer!
Derek, Maple Ridge is always a good parade. It's too bad Mac goes to the North Van parade but that's where the 'geers hang out.

Jeff, since when did Haney Building start using an M211 for deliveries?

Default Apropos of nothing whatsoever...

Do you any of you Maple Ridge mob know a 'Bill Bishop' in your locale? He's not online, but for a long time he's been distributing Patt 1922 Red Ensign stickers and I think now flags. He's staunchly one of "us" in attitude and a good lad. I can pass contact info if necessary.

Jif

PS: Derek wouldn't know what to do with the women anyway, so I recommend heavy security on your cache of fine Canadian beer! He he has a nose like a bloodhound...

Mac never could get over his 6th Field roots...he barely tolerated us Airfield Engineer types and wouldn't have given us the time of day 'cept for the fact that we have better kit, and I'm not just talking about the DAREOD. A fact which I'm sure still galls him to this day! LOL!
