Default Loyd carrier

But not what you'd expect!

This restored unit was at a recent Tractor show. The Loyd was manufactured immediately post-war using UK carrier components as a light agricultural crawler. Steering was by simple two-tiller brakes only. Bits I can see are the engine, gearbox, shortened diff, hub/sprocket, front idler wheel and track. There was also a 2:1 reduction gearbox between the gearbox and diff to lower the speed. The owner has added pads of conveyor belt rubber to the tracks to prevent tearing up his garden and for added hard surface traction.

Very red and glossy, and not military at all.

Oh, and no mufflers on the exhaust, either, just straight 2 1/2" stainless pipes. Did I mention it sounded great?

Interesting... So this was all surplus parts? No new production track or other common parts?
