Default Ford 6V Starter Solenoid

Gents,

I am in need of a standard 6V Ford starter solenoid as used in CMPs, NOS or in useable condition, or some recommendations as to where I can purchase a good quality repro, please.

The repro one I purchased from Macs is just crap - unreliable as is intermittently sticks on, thus flattening the battery and cooking the starter.

If anyone has one to spare, please PM me and we'll talk $$.

Thanks

Mike

Is the sticking due to the solenoid itself, or is it welding the washer across the contacts? A low battery will cause just about any solenoid to weld.

Napa has a 6 volt solenoid with the push-button feature for around $30 under part number ST53. You can also check out the selection of solenoids from Steiner tractors.

Thanks Rob, I'll follow those leads up.

The battery is fully charged (I use a battery maintainer), but it still sticks on (internally) from time to time. I've heard others complain about the repro one from Macs, but I already had it by then, so tried it anyway. Guess I should have listened to others with more experience.

Regards

Mike

Default Another solenoid question

Please can anyone tell me where the starter solenoid fits on a late (July 1944) Cab13 F60S? I have the NOS cable that joins it to the starter motor and know the solenoid cannot be far away from the starter.
