A big party last week, for saying goodby to Andries Kelder in the "Waterloo" hall of the Bernhardkazerne in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.Andries was, after his retiring by the Dutch Army, 17 year chief workshop manager by the Dutch Cavalry Museum.
He have together with his crew restored lots of vehicles & tanks. Here are some of them : C15TA - Otter - Ford Lynx - White Scout - Brengun Carrier - Dingo - Humber Scout - Humber Armoured - White Halftrack - Staghound - Stuart's - Sherman's - etc. etc. All the vehicles / tanks are in a perfect condition and ready for driving on & of the road.

An incredible job Andries !!!

Bedankt Dries, tot ziens

Hip Hip Hurra

Even way over here I have heard of this man and his and your accomplishments through correspondence with Bart.

May Andries have a long and happy retirement.

Default Sad news !

Our friend Andries Kelder is passed away, 74 years old. We in Holland remember him as a great ambassador of the Canadian trucks and Armoured Cars during his nice job as chief "Dutch" Cavalry workshop, Military Camp: Bernhard Kazerne in Amersfoort. I shall mis the several advices and many / many meetings and phone calls .
My condelences to his family.

Sad news indeed, Dirk, but thank you for passing that along. I remember him well from my visit there in 2000... he was a fine gentleman.

That's right Geoff, nice to have a couple of pictures from Andries, token some years ago.
For me a sort of "flashback".

Dirk

Prince "Bernhard" of the Netherlands, visit the workshop from Andries.

Thanks for the notification Dirk. I have been trying all week to find photos of Dries so I am glad you posted some. Andries was a perfectionist and made sure that any vehicle restored in the Calvary Museum was the best. The museum participated in many parades in Holland and only because of Andries was there so many vehicles. He played a big part in the organization of the parade in Spakenburgh in which Brian, Hanno and I have participated. Andries was very generous of his time and expertise to collectors and was a great help to me with the DAF. I will miss him and will particularly miss his greetings every New Years Eve.

I'm very sad to hear Andries has passed away. He was the driving force of the Cavalerie Museum's restoration workshop, where especially many Canadian vehicles like the C15TA shown below were restored because of his efforts.

Beste Dries, rust in vrede

Hanno
