Unhappy Our Little Old Church Closed for good

Hello,

What a sad bit of news I learned today while talking with my childhood friend online. He's from "back home" and talked to his Mom this morning, who has lived her whole life back home, and she informed him that our little old St. Lukes Anglican Church has closed it's doors for good. This is the Church where I went to Sunday School, and church, and where our little graveyard is. Uncle Eddie and I'm sure Uncle Philip, went to church there too, when they were kids!!!

It's a really sad thing for everyone back home. Another "relative" back home just built a wheelchair ramp for it this last summer, and did some other work, so it's a real shock to all back there.

I have some photos I took from some old black and whites but I also took some a couple of years ago and will try to upload them here. Not the greatest photos, but all I have. I took them the last time I went back out there. Am I ever glad I took pictures, because who knows if it will be torn down soon too I read that it was built about 1920, but I'd always thought it was built in the late 1800's.

The front part was newly added some time ago, but the back, with the windows, is all original.

PS: By the way, in the thread I started "All My Relations" in the YOUR RELATIVES area, I posted a photo of my Grandpa Joe. He's standing close to where I was standing when I took the photo a couple of years ago ... but he was standing there prior to Sept. 17, 1945.

This little church means a whole lot, to a whole lot of people. A lot of memories there.
