Default re: enigma

looks like a post war Swiss NEMA 10 rotor machine. These have appeared at auction in recent years.

Still a lot cheaper than the real German ones. I remember following a Christies auction about 8 years ago and a 3 rotor Enigma went for $7000. Cheap by todays standard.

A local militaria dealer near me (Ron Watson) had three various models on consignment: 1 German army, 1 German Naval, and a Swiss post war one. The prices were (I thought) fairly steep, but the 2 German ones sold. I won't break Ron's confidentiality, but one of the customers was quite interesting.

Default nema,

Hi Bruce,
Yes it is a Nema, its been in storage since 1948 and spent all of its years after that in a Swiss radio museum. its unused and complete with all its bits and pieces spare rotors, spare light globes and a seperate lamp board, I posted as an Enigma as I thought not to many people would know of this vaiation, all the same I hope it was of some interest,
Regards,
Ron,

Hi Rob,
Mmmmm sounds interesting, pity you could not post that little bit of news via an Enigma machine that would get the boys thinking and trying to solve the puzell Just kidding of course, They are all very interesting machines quite simple in operation but a mathermatic nightmare.
Regards,
Ron
This shows a rotor pulled apart, by doing this and matching it to another rotor it made the decription all the more difficult, the combinations are almost endless as all the rotors can be seperated and joined to any other rotor of your choice, unlike the Enigma where all you could do was exchange rotors
