Scroll down down down, and there they are, Lynxes! So the important question, when did the Dutch sell theirs?

The interesting subtext is the only other Lynx user is just across the Gulf in Iran, and theirs are ex-Canadian.

"Lynx" is the Canadian designation, the Dutch called them "M113 C&V" (Commando & Verkenning, or command and reconnaissance).

The Royal Netherlands Army phased out their 266 M113 C&Vs in the early 1990s and replaced them with the Fennek wheeled recce vehicle. Next to other equipment, the Netherlands exported 35 M113 C&V and 25 YPR-765 ACV to Bahrain around 1994-1997.

IIRC others were exported to Chile, but many C&V's ended up on ranges to serve as cannon fodder - see some pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dirk_br...detail/?page=3

They appeared to big to be Lynx and I scrolled right past...thanks for pointing them out. They always seem so small compared with the conventional M113 and without one to compare them too.

Just came across this old thread. Hate to call you out on your ID there Terry, and I really don't have the correct answer for you but, as far as I can see those vehicles have x5 road wheels vice X4 on a Lynx.
There are x4 photos of 1131/2 C&V on parade. The fourth one shows the side best and you can count wheels. Like I said, I don't know what they are, but I'm pretty sure they're not Lynxes

I am going to go out on a limb here in a couple of ways.

First off I agree with Terry but not for the cut out but because of the shape and height of the turret and the location of it as well.

I would say Lynx but cant figure out if its ex cloggie oops Dutch or ex CF. Here is the photo that says Lynx to me.

I am prepared to put a pint wager that they are ex Dutch machines as the weapon looks to be the same as this one. Plus add to the fact that the YPRs came from the Dutch.

I see 4 road wheels, along with the sprocket and the idler. Definitely Lynx.
The step hole in the front plate of the track shrouds was a feature we first saw here in Canada on the newly purchased M113A2s in 1986. It had nothing to do with lynx or other variant....just a later feature from the manufacturer.

I guess you are buying me a pint. Last November I wrote that the Netherlands government sold 35 M113 C&V and 25 YPR-765 ACV to Bahrain around 1994-1997.

Thanks Rob, that's the photo I was referring to, and now that it's blown up I can clearly count the unique x4 road wheels of the Lynx/C&V.
Some cool memories of tooling down down muddy tracks in Pet with big rooster tails of muck shooting up behind us, terrified because it was waaaay too fast, but all three of us giggling like school girls over the I/C.

Around 1984 there was a re-distribution of land force equipment, and the Lynx that were in 2PPCLI were being VMO'd out to other units. I was a young craftsmen at Base Maint, and got to do the short road test out back of the shop with one of the Lynx. As we were puttering across the field, a jack rabbit jumped out of nowhere and ran. The lynx quickly gave pursuit....only the chain link fence saved the rabbit. The lynx was light, and fast. I can only imagine what would be possible if they had been re-powered to some of the new M113 power-plant configurations that are available today.
