The Bedford MW on the back of the trailer is one I restored for a client about 22 years ago. A certain feature on the rear is proof plus another few details.

Maybe they offered owners free new paint, so long as you like desert light stone.

Looking at the pics there's a stripped down looking jeep. I bet it gets 'blowed up reel good' at some point in the movie.

My first thought was that these look to be the two CMP's from Rokycany, CZ....but if the remainder of the vehicles came from the UK, than the CMP's are most likely to have come from there as well (?).

The two Humber 8cwts look like two familiar ones from the UK (one from Tobin?).

I always wonder....my knowledge on German markings is limited, but isn't the "Balkenkreuz" on German vehicles a movie thing?

Default SAS: Rogue Heroes

"First-look and further casting revealed for SAS: Rogue Heroes" - https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/20...es-first-look/

Quote:
Rich with action and set-pieces, SAS: Rogue Heroes is the exhilarating story of renegade men taking monumental risks in extraordinary circumstances.

Cairo, 1941. David Stirling (Connor Swindells) - an eccentric young officer, hospitalised after a training exercise went wrong - is bored. Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, he creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare. He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines. More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team are every bit as complicated, flawed and reckless as they are astonishingly brave and heroic.

We’ve all seen the SAS Rogue Heroes series (or parts thereof like me). I spotted the Chevrolet 1311X3 replica which I think looks the part. While most of the 1311X3’s were based on 1939 or 1940 model chassis-cowls, at least one was a 1942 model - and it was used by the LRDG (see the photos above).

Does anyone know who built this replica?

We have all seen it now, Very entertaining.

I wonder if season two will be as full of atrocious over-acting.

David Sterling was the main driver of the concept and SAS may not have come into being without him. Unfortunately he left the scene for Colditz very early. Of course there were many superior SAS leaders involved but Paddy Mayne is the man who developed them to the special status they hold to this day.

Paddy Mayne did enough for 5 military lifetimes and was a lawyer in real life and played rugby for both Ireland and the British Lions, beats me why he is portrayed as some sort of psychopath.

He was awarded DSO and 3 bars while being denied a Victoria Cross in mysterious circumstances even after being personally recommended by Montgomery. To this day there is conflict between "Special Forces" and line regiments. Special Forces are handy and have their place but they don't win battles despite the publicity.

I hope he gets full credit if the second series covers the European period.

Lang

Lang, you are absolutely right. The entertainment industry is always striving for a good story that sells well, rather than an accurate documentation of history.
Overall, I am happy that they make these sort of series, even though the giant grains of salt make it hard to swallow sometimes
