Default Late Production CMP Round Hatch

Greetings, all:

I appeal for anyone's assistance in helping me with the following, related to the subject line.

My C15A is late production (1944), has a round hatch, and I'm trying to figure out how the canvas round hatch is properly mounted onto the hip ring.

I've gotten a description for this mounting from Bruce Parker...whilst descriptive, it doesn't fully make sense to me, yet.

I've searched Keith Webb's site and Rod Diery's site but with no applicable results (the content of their great sites notwithstanding).

I have the round hatch canvas cover with attachments and the co-driver's position, to the rear in the cab, has the metal perforated frame which I suspect accepts a clevis pin and some sort of straps, securing(?). There are no perforations in the roof behind the hip ring.

Feedback, ideas, drawings, references...anything?

Default Sounds different then on the late HUPs

Does it have a wood spacer so that the ring is horizontal or is it at the angle of the roof.

Take a look at the photos on my web page for the HUP. But the HUP has two hole for the cover tie to come through and the has a curved metal strip that is bolted through the cover and the roof. plus it has the straps for rolling the cover up when open.

Default Hip ring cover

I've been wondering about myself. I can't quite make out from Phil's pics what he has forward of the clevis bracket, but here's a top view of mine, that shows a curved bar that was holding down the remnants of the canvas, as well the two guide tubes through the roof to the inside.

That fabric you see around the inside of the ring is canvas stitched to the pressboard cab liner (staff car), which is held up by the pads which are screwed to the inside of the ring. The canvas formes a gromment around the inside of the ring, and there are two grommets on the liner where the holes for the cover tie down come through There was also a strip of metal screwed to the front of the ring that I presumed was to give the cover some "bite" when it was snugged down from inside. I assume that's what the clevis bracket inside to the rear is for.
