Default Churchill tanks

Hereby 3 photo's from Churchill tanks.
Photo's taken in my hometown Lichtenvoorde early April 1945.

On the original photo a text can be read stencilled above the gun aperture.
It reads "check sealed envelope intact, keys of turret here".

Anyone knows more about this?

Marco.

Hi Marco;

This photo (see below) is of the Troop Sergeant's tank INFERNO, 8 Troop, "B" Squadron, 9 RTR. Standing left to right are Charlie Mansell; Sgt. Bob Mane; George Bone. It was taken in February, 1945.

Hi Mark,

Thanks identifying the unit!
Would be interesting to know how this photo came in
the "TANK TRACKS, 9th BATTALION ROYAL TANK REGIMENT AT WAR 1940-45"!
My copy from this photo came from a glass negative from a local photographer.

I can hardly believe the date mentioned as Feb. 1945 being correct as the first Allied (both British and Canadian) units arrived in Lichtenvoorde on March 31th.

The characteristic house on the left still exists today.
It was the residence from the director from "Hulshofs Vereenigde Leerfabrieken", a tannery.
The tannery is still there, the last one surviving in Holland.

This photo (B-Squadron indeed!!) was taken on the same location, only viewing 180 degrees in the other direction, towards the tannery.

To me, it looks like George Bone (second from the left) and Bob Mane (extreme right) are present on this photo.
The two civilians are Mr Hulshof Sr (the director of the tannery) and his son.

Best regards,

Marco
