Default Dingo question.......

Looking at pictures of Dingos, it appears as if the drivers position requires someone pretty small to fit inside. Or, perhaps I have my perspective off and they are bigger than I am thinking? For those of you that have one of these or have driven one, do you have to be smaller/thinner than the average bloke? I can fit in a jeep without problem but those Dingos look tight.

Thanks!

Hi Chuck,

They are a bit tight if you are long in the leg, also seat back is fixed so no way of moving seat back, it is up against the petrol tank. I once knew an owner who was shall I say "stocky", and he left the steering wheel nut loose, and removed wheel to get in or out!

I am 6 foot 2 inches and drive and work on them regularly, just take a bit of getting used to, the driving position is on a slight angle so that in event of an ambush, etc. the driver can look through the rear hatch to reverse out of trouble.

Thank you Richard!

I'd really like to get one of those, but they aren't common here in the States. I figured the first step would be to see if I could actually drive one.

Regards,
Chuck

You could always try your hand at building a replica like these guys.

I'd image a lower Ferret Hull section would be a good basis for a conversion.

They're around so there's no sense in trying to modify a Ferret significantly to make a dingo. I have both a Dingo and a Ferret and they're different enough in layout that you'd be doing some major work to make it all fit right and to have the side by side positions.
