Default towing attachment

The towing attachments on the T-16 are for the same purpose as those on the Mk1 and Mk2 carriers, but are not exactly the same in construction. On the T-16, it is mounted under the stowage box, and the mounting arms are not as long as those on the Canadian carriers. Remember, the towing attachment is welded on the rear armor plate. The T-16 does not have a rear deck area, so the mount is not as long. Otherwise, they look the same. I just looked at the carrier that Jacques Littlefield owns, and it has the tow hook.

Default HLI Carrier Pix

Here is a snap from WW2 of one of Charlies gang getting ready for a swim.

Note the CMP style tow hook on the spring. It is the standard pintle that is found on the back of many CMP trucks, bolted to a spring pack.

Default Now My T-16 Hook

Here is the hook on my T-16. I have not seen this type of pintle used anywhere but on the tail end of T-16s.

I have towed a 6-pounder with both machines, and was not surprised to report that the T-16 with its longer length of track on the ground and more powerful engine was better at the task.

Probably an American improvement on the original British design, like the rest of the vehicle

Default T-16 towing attachment

When the T-16s left the factory, they did not have the towing attachments on them. These are strictly a British addition. On my T-16, you can see where the mount was welded over the top of the original registration number. On the six T-16s I just acquired, every one of the towing hitches are a little different in construction.
As I noted earlier, the Mk2 carrier that Jacques Littlefield owns has exactly the same pintle hook that is on my T-16.
Hanno- There is NO cheap way of shipping a vehicle to Europe. You need to find out if anyone is bringing a container back from the US, so you can share some space.
