Default Australian tank transporter units - notes on WD Numbers

Colleagues

Please find below my notes for three tank transporter units. Hope these are of some value:

2/1st tank Transporter Company

22 May 1942 Five tank transporters arrived per road. Vehicles were Ford V8 semi-trailer types capacity 18 ton.

4 July 1942 13 more transporters received. Delivery being taken at Singleton.

15 July 1942 (T19) 52360, 52203, 52273, 52371, 52361, 52190, 52261
(T18) 52183, 52198, 52202, 52303, 52189, 52307, 52261
Spare 52196

21 July 1942 Two transporters left for 2nd Tank Transporter Coy on loan, Nos 52261, 52303.

22 July 1942 Lt Jones of 3rd Tank Transporter Coy called and took delivery of four transporters on loan to this Coy. Nos 52347, 52307, 52337, 52371.

14 October 1942 … left for Melbourne to receive 20 diesel Diamond Transporters on behalf of unit.

26 March 1943 … to Morowa (WA) to take delivery of 23 Heavy tank Transporters.

26 April 1943 Vehicles noted:
Prime mover 49632, Tlr 70632
Prime mover 49630, Tlr 70630
[Note the correlation between the prime mover and the tlr]

5 Tank Transporter Company

8 December 1942 Vehicles noted. Nos 49538, 49545, 49555

2/2nd Tank Transporter Company

October 1942 Three tank transporters Light Semi Trailer 52303, 52261, 52273 taken on strength from 2/1st Tank Transporter Coy.

4 November 1942 Ford Transporter Light 18 ton Nos 51655, 51654, 52371, transferred from 3 Tank Transporter Coy.

20 November 1942 Ford Transporter Light 18 ton Nos 52189, 52183, 52190, 52196, 52202, 52230, 52192, 52198, 52203.

Shane interesting information. Thanks for sharing. Now I have never seen one of the Ford V8 18 ton units so would you possibly have any photos you could show us?
