Default Where?

Hi Wayne
I know some people who'd be interested in the Canberra stuff - possibly they've already heard about it... but do you have more details?
The C8AX sounds interesting.

Hi all
Our Museum in Port Adelaide currently has one similar to the last post on offer by tender, starting price $1000. Your local military vehicle clubs get a copy of our magazine with the advertisment being in the last one.

Default Optimism springs eternal

Oh dear, here I go again, haggling from the top (WAAAAY up there!) I sent a request to the seller:

"I see you've got some vehicles and parts coming up for auction. I'm interested in the hull of the Tank Attack Carrier, but can't get there for the day of the auction. Will you be selling items before the auction?"

And He replied:

"Hi Tony,
My site is still under construction and will be altered Sunday night.
My aim is to sell as much as possible before the auction.
My price on the TA carrier is $3,500 as is. I specialise in Armour and Artillery in my collecting and am happy to trade. My projects are Grant, Matilda, 25, 6, 2 pdrs and I am trying to set up a pheasant which is the 17pdr on a 25 pdr chassis.
regards, Rod"

That seems a good price for an empty hull with no track, bogie wheels, engine or drivetrain, not to mention the missing 2pdr.

Default 2pdr carrier

It does seem to be a very straight and uncut hull, but as an LP2A will have to die to provide the parts to complete it, it might be a bit much.

Default Attack carrier

A bit too xxy Tony but not everyones got one, unlike LP carriers. You may have to wait till the auction and pick it up for less... or more. Would be great to have though. I'm thinking about swapping some 25 pdr/ 2 pdr gear for the Sea Venom but the distance is a tad problem (no it doesnt fly )

Default Corowa 2005

Tony
You have about 8 months to get it and restore it for Corowa next year...
and counting!

The "1939" gun tractor is one I photographed in Brisbane in the late 80s when it was for sale for $2000. It's a 1941 cab 12 and the body (with the exception of the cowl and windscreen is a remake.

Default Carrier Nomenclature

Hi all

Please, please, it is not an Attack Carrier. They are called Carriers M.G 2pdr. The AT stands for Anti-Tank.

Default Anti-tank or Tank-attack?

Bob, in Mike Cecil's book on Australian Carriers, he gives the nomenclature of these as "Carrier, Anti-tank, 2pdr (Aust) or Tank Attack, 2pdr (Aust)". I guess Mike must have seen some official document or other source before printing that. Besides, the seller had described his hull as a Tank Attack Carrier, and I was just replying using the same term.

Yes, Keith, there might be just enough time to get this finished in time for Corowa!

Default Great photo

of the Attack Carrier Tony. That actual Attack Carrier (I've been told) is located here in Perth and is currently being restored. I recall the gear/transfer box and the front Engine cover are the hardest parts to find on these Attack Carriers.

Default Very nice Canadian F15

There's an excellent restoration project in this very original looking F15, a full import unlike most Ford CMPs here.
Hope it finds a good home.

Default 2pdr Carrier

Bob, the workshop manual for "Carriers, M.G. , Carriers, 2pdr and Carriers, 3in Mortar" doesn't actually say if the full name for the 2pdr carriers is Anti-tank or Tank Attack. I have heard these referred to by both descriptions. We need to conjure up Mike Cecil to find an Official reference.

Wayne, yes the transfer case is definately unusual on these. It bolts directly on to the pinion shaft of the diff. As there is no gear reduction in the transfer case (It's only to allow the Engine and Gearbox to be mounted along the left side of the carrier), I thought of using an LP2A axle and Blitz transfer case if I were to get it ready for Corowa.

Never mind Ian, Rod is updating his site every now and then so we can use a regular heads-up anyway.
