6th Field Engineers 100th
The Honourary Lieutenant Colonel of the 39th Combat Engineer Regiment, James Happer CD would like to extend his greetings to Western Command and invite all club members to participate in an historic event.
Sixth Field Engineer Squadron (39 Combat Engineer Regiment) is celebrating its 100 Anniversary this year. On May 7th the Squadron will March for the first time with its new flag, carried in a special ceremony at Mahon Park in North Vancouver. The event will start with the Regiment, Colour Party and JP Fell Pipe Band marching to the parade grounds at the park. Local veterans will also participate and it is hoped that Western Command members will join the parade and help transport the vet’s or just be in the parade. Once the parade arrives at the park, vintage military vehicles will be positioned as the backdrop for the official ceremony, right on the parade grounds, NOT parked in a far off forgotten corner. If you have an older military vehicle and would to join in the celebration to mark the 100th Anniversary of North Vancouver’s Military Engineers, please contact Guy Black (604) 937-7673 or gmblack@telus.net. More information will be provided closer to the event date Looks like I am Taking the Carrier Jeff Last edited by jeff davis; 17-01-11 at 06:44. |

6th Field Sqn Centennial Parade
Thanks Jeff, anyone else that would like to participate please let me know so we can figure out how many vehicles we will have. This one is unique since it is 100% military, no boy scouts or brownies this time. So far the vehicle count is 8 which is pretty good. Thanks everyone. Guy

Unit Parade - Centennial
Hello, for those interested in participating in the Engineers parade where the new Corps flag will be paraded, yes I originally assumed it was new colours but that would not be correct as pointed out by Terry.
Saturday May 7th, there is a full rehearsal @9:00am. Attend if you can or show up at 10:30 for the real thing. A few important notes, when the parade (us included) drives onto Mahon Field, the first and second row of soldiers & cadets will march into position, we are the third row, when we stop, we face 45 degree angle to the front and when the parade is ordered to turn left to face the front, we shut off our engines at that time. We then stay put during the parade and when the parade is dismissed and marches to the armouries, we follow right behind with 15th Field Regt Band in front of us. Once again we are part of the parade. Park right in front of the armouries, no parking on the grass please or driving on the grass at Mahon Field. Thanks and see you this Saturday. |
