the price
What is your thoughts on the price???
Anyone know if the truck is in such a good condition as said? And generally, what is a fare price on a C8A in running condition?? Rolf PS: No, don't have one, just wants one..... some day.... |

HUW
Let me start by saying that I have never actually seen this vehicle with my own eyes. I have spoken with two people (independent of each other) who said that the truck was purchased for about US$2100 and underwent a cosmetic only "restoration". It runs.
It is of course, worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. I wouldn't be willing to pay more than US$4000 for what I know so far, but then I've never seen, heard or driven the truck. Maybe its full of expensive and rare radio gear ? Or not. Buyer beware. Robert

If it is the same one that I think it is, no, it is not full of "unique", "rare", radio gear. Even if it was it would not justify the seller's price.
The Opel is another story. I would be extremely wary of it as well and would want definative provinance of its associated "history". I guess if Crerar used my HUP as his personal vehicle I could ask another 20 grand for it? Seriously though, I think most restored HUPs seem to sell around the 10K area, give or take.

If it's in the condition as described, especially being a ZL, I suspect it's worth whatever someone's willing to pay for it. There just aren't many of these things around that you could climb in and drive away, and the market for them is limited.
If I'd won the 6/49 last night, I would probably buy it, but a 'free ticket' ain't quite the same...

A "fully restored" 1943 HUP is offered for sale in Holland for €15.500,-. Mind you, there's always a difference between the prices being asked versus the ones actually agreed on. H. |
