two FLW's in crates from the factory

I am a Canadian Peace Keeping Veteran.

I was recently approached by a gentleman who owns two FLW's in crates from the factory (the crates have never been opened). One motorcycle has a Norton engine and the other has a Triumph engine.

I rebuild and fabricate motorcycles in my spare time in my shop located behind my house. My question is how can I find out what these motorcycles are worth? I want to purchase, assemble then ride these motorcycles, but first I need to know how much to pay this gentleman for the motorcycles.

I'm fairly well involved in the old bike scene but there is a lot more info needed for even an identification.

Rich, I'm glad you asked that, because I have had military m/cycles for 30 years and it is not an abbreviation I recognise.

It turns out the man who posted this question on the ktr mailing list made a mistake, he mend: Harley D wla/wlc.
The FLW is not an abbreviation it just doesn't exist.

I think regardless of his terminology, if these are complete bikes in the crate, they shouldn'e be assembled, they should be kept in the crate.

Once assembled, its just another bike on the road. Still in the crate, its a piece of history- and a more valuable one at that!

I hope he cna be convinced not to assemble them!

Well, the WLA or WLC bikes won't be original/new in the crate if they're fitted with Norton or Triumph engines!
