Default Jerry can with spout for M38A1 1953

I know these are not the easiest to come by. I am looking for a complete one in decent shape inside. I have a red one that is rusted out and was contaminated with who knows what? It does have the G on it for gasoline but did not have the filler neck that screws inside the cap.

I could maybe remove the gunk and try to remove the rust or seal it but still would need the spout. So if a spare spout is around I'd look at that as well?

Also have to ask did these come in imperial and US 5 gallon cans or are they all in US gallons?

PM me or Email to g62man@hotmail.com if not a member.
Thank You Casey

Those cans are a $5 item around here. It was always hard finding ones that had not been dropped so many times that the inside liner coating was coming loose and plugging the fuel filters.

Actually, the paint would not initially plug the filters, it would plug the screen on the horsecock (flex spout). The driver would then remove and dispose of the little screen to "fix" the problem.

Best thing we ever did was get rid of those cans. The M113s would catch those paint flakes in the quick disconnect to the engine, thus disabling the vehicle. Clean fuel is good fuel. I see the US Army has followed suit and gone over to the same Scepter plastic cans we have.

I was looking for the screw type lid but was given a link to one here and worked a deal out so I have a functional can to use and not my rust bucket for show...thanks.
