Default Shock headlines

From time to time the headline writers like to invoke one of their favourite words in the weird shorthand used in the media, and that word happens to be 'Blitz'. It always makes me chuckle.

It would have to be a stores blitz with the wire cage under the tarp.

Blitz must be the word of the moment again.
Our local command is having a speeding blitz this weekend according to the local news last night.

And double demerit points to boot I see.

I'm in Gundagai to shoot the Landfill (Sorry, Land Rover) gathering.

Keith and all. The fun with words.
I always find it interesting how the meanings or use age changes within a common language. To Australians, a blitz of course is a CMP truck (lorry to you). The rest of the world only refers to them as CMPs. The English language...

Default Divided by a common language

To an Italian, a Blitz is a make of chainsaw ....

To a Pom, it means the Germans are dropping LOTS of bombs...

To many Australians (of the non-MV collecting variety), it means even more nasty little coppers hiding behind bushes carrying 'hair dryers'.

I have to admit having to learn quite a few different terms/meanings since moving to the USA. No more filling the gas bottle for the Barbie .... now I get the Propane Tank filled for the Grill. The list goes on!
